Describe your dance background in 3 short phrases:
1. I started dancing at the age of 9, and haven’t looked back since. I’ve never had a “normal” job…I’ve been blessed to make a living do what I love, and it’s been the greatest gift ever!
2. I’m a Central Florida native and trained in all dance styles. (Even though I only teach contemporary at Rhythm, I am VERY passionate about well-rounded dancers!) I attended Florida State University and danced on the Golden Girls Dance team.
3. I moved to North Hollywood, California after college and danced for contemporary companies: “Royal Flux,” “Entity Contemporary Dance,” and for Andrew Winghart's shows and freelance work. The “LA hustle” truly made me appreciate and love dance even more than I already did, and has truly played a role in how I train and work with dancers. SUPER PUMPED to be teaching at Rhythm!
Rhythm Role: Performing Company Contemporary Director & Choreographer
Teaches: Contemporary! Whoooooohooo!
Fun fact: I have an uncanny ability to cluck like a chicken, and I’m absolutely OBSESSED with school/office supplies.
Favorite Rhythm Year-End Show: Rhythm Upon a Dream/Screen! While it certainly didn’t look like what I know Rhythm shows typically look like, it was such an awesome and unique way to experience my first one. It just further solidified how proud I am to be part of a studio and faculty that is so adaptable and able to find the silver lining in any situation. Hands down the best virtual/in-studio year end show that anyone could have dreamt up. GO RHYTHM!
When not at Rhythm dancing, I’m spending time with my husband, son, and sweet pup. Watching my son discover the world as a toddler is the coolest thing, and being his mom is SO rewarding. As a family we love spending time outside, near water, with good food, and good music. Relaxation station at its best! I also LOVE a good work out. :)
